We Walked Upside-Down

we scoured the sky
left white billowing scratches
at day when the sun poured through
we slipped in blue puddles
and surfed the wind

at night the air cleared
and the stars whispered beneath our feet,
'What do you dream?'
in answer we raised our eyes
to the dark earth above
let our gaze follow the passive curve of land
and gravity flirted a moment
before turning away

we wished that someday
we might walk our heaven
