Suck

Autumn colored bumps & brushes were getting stronger
We could not hold up under the pressure
They glare at the stranger
Forcing them away, I smile less
They are grinning & interrupting like wagging dogs
Admirably, he is like the radio now
He used to be the television
Nice to look at, nothing to talk to.
Fixed teeth, new screens & I’ll be ready for the shelves
As long as no one looks into the heart of the set.
He never put his book down to hear you read
I was holding my breath all creativity paused
I wouldn’t dare move
If it meant something that could make us happy
My glib tongue, my mouth don’t comfort
Unless placed there by you
I rub your spine, looking for a place of peace
But his jokes are making you laugh too hard
& Like your lines – it makes me unfinished & crude.
When your hands realize I was there &
Your mouth is not accustomed to pain &
Your ears listen instead of feel &
Your lies are not as deep as the style of your desire
Then you will see
Water never suited this thirst
& Your reflection molds only slightly more than mist.
