the rainbow bridge

If my boy should race the rainbow bridge
With the hour glass of endless sands
If he should pace the green grass ridge
Where the clocks tick without hands
If he should leave this realm of mine
Before his fate dictates his time
The rainbow door opens once more
To the misty vallies and dells divine
I know that he will wait for me
Until we as one are whole
In peace at play 'til late we'll stay
Two halves of the same soul
(when I first picked up my dog I joined a German Shepherd forum; I had never heard of the rainbow bridge which appeared in a post, it seems it is where your pets go when they die in order to wait for you.)
