THE DUCK
“Can I take your order” said the waiter. He peered down at Hamilton, his nose twitched like a rabbit sniffing the breeze. He was holding a small note pad, pencil poised on page. “Perhaps Sir Would like something to drink”. Hamilton put down his menu. “I'll try the Roast Duck With Apple And Prune Sauce, and a bottle of the House Red, please”
“Would you like the Black Bellied Whistling Duck or the Ruddy Duck?” said the waiter
“What ?” said Hamilton
“Which would Sir prefer, is it the Whistling or Ruddy”.?
“I don't know what's the difference” ? said Hamilton.
“That's a very good question sir”, said the waiter. “ Strangely our Black Bellied Whistling Duck does not honk or quack, but instead makes a very high pitched sound, like he's whistling ,unusual for a duck if I might say, he has a long neck, black belly and white wing patches. Our Ruddy Duck, on the other hand, is a small stout diving duck with a bright chestnut body, black crown and white cheeks”
“Oh” said Hamilton,” that's very interesting, which one tastes better” ?
“Ducks are interesting sir,” continued the waiter, “for instance did you know the Latin for Duck is Anus or that many people confuse Loons and Coots and even Geese for Ducks” ?
“No I did not know any of that,”confessed Hamilton “Frankly it had never crossed my mind”.
“Would you care to see some Duck photographs ?” asked the waiter.
“Not really” said Hamilton,I think I'll just leave.
“Power Point presentation ?,let me fetch the computer sir".
