You Remembered All The Details

My first thought - you're fatter - much fatter
like a cartoon bottle come alive
tight belted - a skittle
but with the same face the same smile.
Trust you to choose this place
the sticky dark wood tables.
The thin upholstery of the bench
stingy thinning fabric of cinema seats.
You took me there on sunny afternoons
into the cool and dark. We saw films
that nobody wanted to see, just us two
in row L - you wanted those seats
on the aisle in the empty auditorium -
we could have sat anywhere.
You buy the drinks. You are togged up
for work - the suit, the shoes.
I ask if you're happy and you don't hesistate
I am you say. I watch your hands
on the sticky wood.
Disappointment like ice in my mouth.
