The Territory Wars – Part 1 – The Stage is Set
1501: Bastros declares the birth of a new kingdom, The Kingdom of Sanctuary, and welcomes all residents of the northwest to join his cause of building a safe, wealthy and powerful kingdom. Having the largest trained army in the area, many of the surrounding communities jumped at the opportunity to be part of something larger. Grand River, however, decided not to join as their close relationship with their Elven neighbours of The Evergrowth, supplied the village with everything they needed.
Over the next 3 years, the Kingdom of Sanctuary flourished as the varied cultures share knowledge, wealth and trade within the sanctuary. Outside of Sanctuary there was a divide in opinions. The elders of Grandriver believed the kingdom was a distraction, leading them away from the teachings of their sea-god, Sendia. The youth, however, believed they were being left merely the scraps of the kingdom’s wealth and many of them headed south, leaving their small village behind.
1504: Up until now, The Dwarves were only sending out very few into the world to trade for food and other basic necessities. It was through those trades that Bastros came to realize the true beauty of the gems they extracted from the mountain Utengresner. King Bastros’ previous success leaves his ego and greed fully inflamed as he sets his sights on the precious riches held within the Dwarven homestead.
After considering his options brought to him by a council of Sanctuary, it was decided that Utengresner conveniently sat on land that was part of the Kingdom and therefore the Dwarven Queen Tryff owed not only a tariff, but a back-payment in order to prevent further action. As one might expect, Queen Tryff pridefully rejected Bastros’ ludicrous demands, citing that their strength and fortifications could handle any ‘further action’ the humans could initiate.
Accepting the challenge King Bastros prepares for war. Calling for the battle hungry Barbarians of Giants Steppe to enforce his front line, the Copper Falls Cavalry to lead the charge and every able man and woman to pick up arms against the Dwarf’s who were intent on limiting the greatness of Sanctuary.
