Coats

The jersey was off-white, intentionally so.
It stopped in our lost property years ago.
It had a pin-badge with two lime and lemon lips.
If it sounds like yours, rest assured that weeks elapsed
before the night turned colder than expected
and at a loss I wore it home. It fitted
immaculately. Was the make-up stain always there?
Was there always a sinewy crack along the zipper?
You alone know. Maybe you'll tell me when our paths next
cross and ever-cycling karma unveils
you as its once and true wearer. Will you poke
a new emblem through the punctures on the breast?
The one I removed is my only keepsake. Will you feel
its lightness on your shoulders again? Do that for me? Okey doke?
