Barcelona
We went to Barcelona today – males only. We saw the Church designed by Gaudi, who was hit by a tram and died in 1926. He started it with others in the 1880’s and it is still being built today. Beautiful sculptures, its tall towering ‘steeples’ climbing heavenward, dominating the skyline.
As it is built, attitudes and religious values may change, But they keep building it, an edifice to pierce the Barcelona skyline, higher than all those around it in that area, built for God, for the people, for Barcelona, for the glory of the human race. Artistic vision is superior to the false god of money. This is for the glory of God and the human race. We stretch ourselves to the limits, and make something beautiful, for beauty’s sake.

art for art's sake that is
art for art's sake that is why we create. money counterfeits that scheme, but leaves us queasy and uneasy with what is real.
