Life had been depressing for lance everyone told him it was just a phase but that phase was lasting far to long, usually so upbeat things had started beating down on him. Their was no explanation.
He reasoned it must be him (it wasn't)
It must be friends and family (never)
The job he loved (nah)
The dream, the irritating dream about losing his inner sun had been playing over and over in his mind for weeks.
Each time the dream was the same the sun would rise but pieces were missing and as he watched more of the the sun dribbled away never to be seen again. Each time after lance woke up he felt a little smaller inside the world seemed a little grayer. The people he loved seemed like layers stopping him from seeing the real world.
It was Sunday and time for bed lance dreaded going to sleep. He knew the dream would come and take away a little piece of the man he used to know.
As usual the sun rose in lances dream and pieces started to fall away never to be seen again. Instead of getting sad for the first time lance became angry.
He smashed things, crashed things and crunched things all gave a satisfying poof in the dream world, the sun was still dribbling away lance was beside himself and without thinking why bit his own arm.
He woke with an "owwww" he really had bit his arm.
Lance looked sleepily round his bedroom, rubbing his arm until he noticed the sun from his dreams still dribbling had followed him out of his dream, and was currently on the wall leaking behind his bed.
Quick as a flash lance grabbed a glass and the bright neon yellow liquid slow dribbled into it.
Lance had a thought he peeled back his bed covers and sure enough pools of the liquid lay all around under his bed he scooped it up and tipped it into the same glass catching the drips.
A satisfying nights work thought lance but what was the liquid? Whatever it was it was quite beautiful it smelt of future promise and loving thoughts. The texture seemed to change from one minute to the next first it felt like first love then a family party and then max lance's beloved family dog.
Lance thought hard "Should I drink such a strange Liquid?". Now you or I reading such a strange tale would have begged him not. But lance had smelled en-devour and love in the drink. He felt compassion and good times long since forgot.
Lance took the drink and glugged it down in one, instantly he fell into a deep asleep. Lance awoke the next morning the sky was bright, family were loving and his job was great again. He'd regained his hope, and if you ask him nicely he's always willing to share it.
