responsibilities of “citizenry”

blanket statements are always
made, be they flippant or
completely genuine & until the
AI”s get their bugs worked out
(upon a time far in the non-
nuclear-war future), no doubt
this error in us humans will
continue.
so what is it to be a “citizen”
in a “country,” much less an
“empire,” that wields horror &
violence, violence & horror
all over the rest of the world?
is it enough to say
“we’re powerless…we got to
deal with things at home…those
up top have got the whole thing
rigged & there’s no way to
change things.”
will that suffice?
is it better to say that there are
those within the belly who are
sickened by the growing cancer &
who dream of a day when more
people get angry & rise up, as
we have seen happen historically,
regardless of whatever “successes”
may have been derived from the
unrest?
will that suffice?
is it better to condemn all those
who speak against the empire, who
speak against those doing its bidding,
who are angered & whether they are
actively resisting from within or
holding it all inside for hopes of a
greater explosion in the near future?
will that suffice?
for if you point your finger at a country
& you say they are responsible for the
terrifying deeds that you have mounds
of evidence suggesting that they are
solely the cause of, you single out no one
&
then those who speak quick
point the finger at you & say
“how dare you accuse john-&-jenny-Q-
do-nothing of being part of the mania!”
&
that all those folks haven’t a thing to do
with what their country does, because
said nation seems to act of its own volition,
with the small room & the conspiracy &
the moneyed interests & the lust for
blood & the want for the status quo to
keep on spinning & spinning.
will that suffice?
is it better to acknowledge that all humans
were condemned to be born wherever it was
that they fell out of the whom & all
supposed allegiances which they are supposed
to hold, in regards to the when-where-who-how,
are simply layers of the onion which one
needs to peel off themselves in order to
focus their energy, strength & anger upon those
in ANY place whose actions show us all
just exactly who has it out for the species,
just exactly who is doing their best to drive the
rest of us under?
&
supposing this was the case...
wouldn’t everyone, everywhere, be responsible
for everything that happens?
yet nothing is sufficient, is it?
