Concrete Pole

It was hazardly romantic
Spouting emotions beside the cavernous concrete pole
An institution like scene where crazy #1 persuades crazy #2 to hold his hand which stabbs and not the other
They'd journey down the white hall until they reached his danger zone
My ears are titled straight like a railroad gate
And he's quick in his crossing
Trespassing my frenzied state of emotions
Just fifteen minutes before,
treading loudly in my three dollar boots down the boulevard with my great grandmother's porcelain necklace shifting with disdain
I was told,
"Get the fuck out of my apartment."
I am followed
until the street is beat and meets the corner
Name is called, check role call, and the bunched cars are making it
impossible
to step
Step into something open
I glance as you would into a moving car
His hair a false black, fading appropriately
for it was never meant to be so dark
This natural red is quietly apologizing,
fearful of his speed
knife hidden at hand
"I've never felt so strong of a connection with anyone since I moved to Tuscaloosa. I hate you so much but I liked you."
Stab number one.
"Empty."
I feel nothing.
He goes to speak,
pulls out a collected book of critiques
I get my listed numbers
along with hated algorithms
Those ones that trap,
like a certain 24 year old who knows how to play games and conquer
with objects and moon lit messages
My red friend, full of soft rage,
a pacified crazy #1
picks me up beside the concrete pole
and kisses me
to prove
that I am young
that I am inexperienced
that I am frightened
that my disguise is transparent
For the emotions are there
I kiss and lose
jumping temporarily onto the tracks
before my gates begin to close
and I depart from the scene--my defense mechanism
Crazy girl #2 says goodbye to crazy #1
and thanks him for his stabbing hand
Tomorrow he'll knock at her door and smile at her tangles
And they'll fight once more about the injustice of being young
moving fast
feeling
and speaking with forked tongues
Sorry for the change in weather
Good friends will always bode much better
Kiss me by the concrete pole and I'm your crazy #2 friend forever
