Yo ho ho ..

The Christmas lights are now lit-up in the shops.
Shelves stuffed full of potential presents, like socks.
Watches, sweaters, depending on your purse,
l worry so over people who's lives have been cursed.
Not everyone has a someone there to spoil.
Maybe widowed, perhaps old or in a place of personal toil.
It is certain there are folk who have no roof over their head,
and they struggle for a bite to eat, use a blanket for a bed.
l clock those young guys each day, sliding through my work.
Covered in dirt, odour is thick, trying to steal something to raise cash for a drink
or drugs, s'all the same,
they do possess a name,
who knows how they got there, therefore, life becomes a game.
The poor, little gran,
Zimmer at hand,
The shoppers zoom round her, she can hardly stand.
Up, there she goes,
to keep dry her toes,
barely covered in decent, warm clothes.
I see lots of sad things that's happening to others.
The shouting at children from hard, angry mothers.
Or lifting of 'stuff' to sell on to get by,
I sometimes have to bite my tongue, or turn a blind eye.
It's not a 'Merry Christmas' for all ..
