BBBB

In rows, shining stems and identical, (almost)
spikey tips, grey. Where could each take me?
Their names gave nothing away : HB, 2B,
etc pointless as a road without scenery or signs.
To hold one, scrabbled from the sleek cling
of numbers was to hold a seed, a root, a waiting
to find itself on paper. I could release the core,
free it in a scribble, tame it like a horse
to ride my imagination, map unfolding thoughts.
Then I bought a 4B, by mistake. Broad. Strong.
POWer. The line became my partner
in new found certainty and nuances of smudge
dreams become 3D, leave their fingerprints on reality.
When you fall in love with darkness, life is never still

Thank you! And just wanted to
Thank you! And just wanted to say I agreed with both of you. You know, I get around writing problems (eg structure) with my students because I just want them to enjoy it and describe things etc. There must be an art equivalent. I don't know if there's anything online, Turlough? I'm sure you will find your own style though! Happy New Year!

Sorry Di, I've only this seen
Sorry Di, I've only this seen your comment from a week ago. Breaking the ice on the paper, as you suggested, sounds like the answer to my trepidation and I will certainly have a crack at this in the not too distant future. Your words of encouragement are greatly appreciated though I might need a few more once I get started.

I didn't get a notification
I didn't get a notification of your comment, Di-Hard, so good to have Turlough's to flag it up. I teach students with learning difficulties - I've not done the music thing myself but a fantastic colleague does and it sounds great. I've done quite a lot of creative writing with them and I think I always try and break it down a lot/make things tactile. So maybe it's the same in art. I put an idea on my (ha ha, don't laugh) blog that takes away the worry about structure. (wordish.uk)
There must be an art equivalent. Something patchworky!
