GLOREOUS GOLDEN SHOES

 

Gloreus golden shoes left out in the rain

We can’t find a person to explain

Why she left her shoes and did not return.

Just like Columbo, we’ve one more question to ask.

 

Gloreus golden shoes sit by a wooden bench

Where young couples came to meet

Did children paint the stones that guard the scene?

Just like Columbo, we’ve one more question to ask.

 

Gloreus golden shoes have been there for hours.

Bees dance and pollenate the purple flowers.

We wouldn’t have been here but to do this task.

Just like Columbo, we’ve got more questions to ask.

The scene exist, as described =, at Halwsay Manor, Somerset. The shoes are beside a bench, in front of the Wendy House. Three or four large stones are arranged around the bench. The paint is of a gold colour..

This piece was born at a residential songwritng week, as a result of a collaboraton with Simon Weston. 'Gloreus' is not a spelling mistake, it is the brand name of the shoe.
