MY INVISIBLE FRIEND
Well I know that we may never meet again
but I'll always consider you a friend.
This new gift, invisibility, you take as a necessity
because you know I'll question what you've turned out to be.
Did they buy you, did they break you,
did misfortune overtake you?
Did you just get in too deep and finally drown?
Did they buy you, did they break you,did you give it away?
I hope that what you got was worth the price you had to pay.
That summer was all beers and dreams out loud.
Said you'd find the sun, escape from the from the crowd.
Now I hear your life is just the same but, even worse, you run the game.
Money's made a fool of you, could you not escape the frame?
Did they buy you, did they break you,
did misfortune overtake you?
Did you just get in too deep and finally drown?
Did they buy you, did they break you,
did you give it away?
I hope that what you got was worth the price you had to pay.
When the sales dry up and stocks begin to fall
I'll still be here and glad to get your
call.
Despite my persistence, old friends belie the truth of your existence
You could make the man I knew return though it may require assistance.
Did they buy you,did they break you,did misfortune overtake you?
Did you just get in too deep and finally drown?
Did they buy you, did they break you,
did you give it away?
I hope that what you got was worth the price you had to pay.
