A second flood

The first to see it were the first to go
as it’s towering splendor rose above them.
Five miles high, a hundred across,
a million gallons of death.
The world leaders were informed
the governments rushed to safety.
Each sealed in a bunker
from which only the fishes could escape.
There was no plan to enforce,
no safeguards to uphold.
If it came in your way you were gone,
there was no power to stop it.
Mothers grabbed children,
husbands grabbed wives.
A tormented cry went up from mankind.
United in their grief and future.
Once mighty countries
fell to depths of legends.
In a matter of hours
the sea had reclaimed the land.
And when man's punishment was complete,
God placed a rainbow in the sky.
A symbol of his presence and power
where there was no one left to believe.
