An Open Letter To The Council Of Higher Beings - An Inspiration Point response

It always starts small. We’ve seen it time and again.

It always starts small then grows into something we can’t control. We live in hope it will be better this time around. Hope is one of the keys to enlightenment. Hope and good sex, but our charges don’t know about the second.

(We were a bit worried about the discovery of tantric sex but thankfully, most took no notice. Those who practiced this technique were viewed as either weirdoes or perverts or a combination of the two. Our charge’s ignorance often amazes Us. In the case of tantric sex, We were quite pleased about the outcome. We didn’t think Our facilities would cope with a massive influx of enlightened. We only ever get a few at a time. Our charges usually take many life cycles before they finally come to Us. Most of them are just so slow on the uptake.)

Hope is really the major key. Without it, We all, both human and Those Above, wither and die like a neglected plant. Hope is like water in which all other nutrients required to survive are carried. Hope is greater than belief; greater than faith, even, for what good is faith without it?

This new interloper, this quasi-font of knowledge and answers, has gained popularity very quickly and without the usual subjugation of other beliefs. Not a single drop of blood has been spilt in Its ascendancy. This is just wrong.

It appears this God has no problem sharing either. And It doesn’t require the usual supplications, something the Older Gods among Our Number aren’t even slightly happy about.

They wanted to go all fire-and-brimstone, smite-thee-and-thy on Our charges. But they always want to do this, ever since Humans stopped sacrificing virgins to their names. The Oldies miss this devotion and have never really coped well with change. Whenever we have a general meeting, they often try to talk up a good old-fashioned smiting of some sort. Thankfully, there are enough of the rest of Us to veto any such action.

The only thing We are concerned about it how easily this new God provides answers. It doesn’t limit itself to a single one either. It actually treats Its believers as intelligent, willful beings capable of making choices and decisions based on the information provided. We work best when our charges think of us as an unsolvable mysteries and when understanding and knowledge is gained only through years of devotion and study. This new God flashes up as many answers to a simple question as possible, as though this information is easily and freely available to everyone. This behaviour is quite disturbing and will bear some careful scrutiny.

All we can do is wait and see if this deity is merely a favored sprite and not a true God. But it has us very concerned, nonetheless.
