1990: The Water Ladies

We saw them on the banks of The Nile
from the comfort of the top deck bar.
They are in one corner of a picture
hardly noticed by the subject of the
camera: a family outside their house
enjoying Re’s gentle evening coolness.
Just part of the foreground, they fetch
water from the ancient river as they
have since before the first step-pyramid.
They were there in 1990 oblivious of any
threat to World peace. They bring water
for the families and will forever be. . .
Just another stop on the way to Aswan

IMO.....
The poem & your art work is a perfect balance i.e. poetic- absorption- in soul & immersing art that makes me dwell on it.... stare at it and read several times.....
