Ignorance

Those people who sit down on Sunday afternoon
They read the paper
With a cup of tea in on hand
A cigar in the other
They see a picture
A man dying, far away
They don't FLINCH
To them on paper it just isn't real
It's just a photograph
And there they are at home
Warm and safe
Nothing to fear
No worries
No PERSECUTION
A protestor outside a laboratory tells them the animals are in
pain
"They need your help"
Their help?
They walk past
And don't look back
'Who cares?'
They THINK
But they haven't seen it up close
They haven't seen the suffering they deny
Or the pain
And still they don't look twice
Because it doesn't matter to them
They only care for themselves
It's all out of sight
It doesn't matter.
DOES IT?
