What are your earliest memories; here are mine

I was three, as both parents were blind, I spent six weeks in a isolation ward being cared for. I'd whooping cough. My younger brothers stayed at home; which was Swindon Close, Harold Hill, Romford, Essex. I can still recall this angry, frightened tousled hair and hot skinned little girl that was me, yelling and howling as I rocked the cot; where I'd been contained. My parents visited me once a week....so the week must have felt without any ending. I'm sure that the staff would have treated me kindly just as I'm sure they were delighted to see me go home. My parting wave of howls was not being allowed to take my golliwog home with me. I was a child; my golliwog was just that; no other connotations attached.
I wonder if you can recall your first toy; where you were when you were given it as other memories attached.
I learnt to read via Janet and John books at Meads Infants School, Harold Hill. I feel I have a teacher called Miss Adams to thank for giving me the love of the written word. My parents built on the work at school with my lovely mum reading me braille stories at bed-time. These books were enormous, posted from RNIB in London. This organisation still assists people with poor sight to continue to read.....fantastic work......thank you lovely people....and those who continue to support it.
I know only too well it is to slip into negative thinking, and writing, I want to try and turn things around for me whilst I can.
