As we walked the lane
where butterflies wafted
she tol d me the reason
why her pallette was black.
Her sockets so red
it hadn't been said
"Why can't you see
the branch of the tree?
Love in the night
when fuels ignite
and powers surge
and bodies imerse.
It somehow didn't matter
crows in the field scatter
if it was the prostitute
or her own father
who took my mum's sight away.

Really well written Esther. The last verse was hard-hitting.
