The swimming pool might be gone
as have the tiny changing rooms
yet my memories linger on
to childish things; shut away.
I'm still the same but older
watching the swings at play
whilst the pirate ship soars
and other voices sing along.
Innocence packaged in soft blue eye's
or leather jackets and granddad bent
in soft regret for intent now lost
as chuffing train departs.
No zoo to see; where monkeys hang
Yet Peacocks, in Sunday best, decide
to banter then canter to the pub
as families plead for more.
