Leaving Nothing Behind

I’m like a used cleaning rag beaten
Down and torn, my heat harden from the storm,
Like a beggar hungry and cold,
Lonely longing to find someone to hold,
Knowing now while I’m growing old
Broken pieces no longer have control.
The setting sun has no shine.
Falling stars from this empty space,
Leaving nothing behind,
Gray and gloomily skies,
Traveling deep within the night,
The bitter winter breeze,
Blows the cold snow
Deep into the trees,
Pushing them down
A pond me,
Standing alone looking to find
The bright lights blinding insight
While the tunnel grows smaller tonight
