And the wind it blows
at my back,
fierce enough,
to discount an Olympian’s record
on tartan track.
And the wind it blows
in my face,
hard enough
to change predicted outcomes
in this my race.
And the wind it blows
filling sails
long enough
to push us through these doldrums
unless it fails.
And the wind it blows
the night through
loud enough
to keep us wakefully worriting
on what to do.
And the wind it blows,
hither, yon,
fair enough
and even-handed in destruction,
until it’s gone
[If you really want to hear it, it's here]
