whilst a queen too old for foolishness

looks on, mourning lost sons, grandsons

and the tiniest shoots of the family tree.

He speaks backwards,

in tongues, in

Parselmouth,

Zaum, Newspeak,

Nadsat, Khuzdul,

Greek and Latin.

A lie is a lie

in any language:

the greater the lie

the more believed

it will be.

marching will start,

your postman will be

back in uniform,

the posters will

be red and black,

and their words

in gothic fonts.
