Well my ship came in here alright:
blew in from Caleb the other night.
A sixteen wheeler dropped me here.
It’s a long way to here from New Haven.
I own a pea-coat and a canvas bag
and two hundred dollars - I been savin’
since Syracuse and paying off last time.
Seems too small for the meanest crime.
New plans comin’, over smokes and a beer.
There’s a gun in the pocket of my sailor’s jacket,
by the makin’s of a righteous tea-green smoke
and a few dozen mandies in an oilskin packet.
Yeah, the sailor sure is home from the sea,
It’s been a long time: ‘bout since ’93.
Yeah, home free now, with a followin' breeze.
