Bubblegum

I don't know why

But

When I think of you

I think of bubblegum.

Maybe it's because

At first you're hard to chew

And it takes time to soften your exterior

 Yet you're exciting

And provide a burst of flavor

To my bland and boring world.

Yet maybe

More than anything else

It's because over time

You get harder

And harder

To chew

And you become sour

An acrid taste that

Makes me grimace

And

All I want to do is

Spit you out.
