I Wonder...

I wonder if you know
That I can see what you don't want to show
The dredges of tears
Glistening in your eyes, reflecting your fears.
How sad you seem deep inside
Like you want to run and hide
To get away from it all
But you wonder who would catch you if you fall.
I can see how alone you are
And how you feel you haven't gotten very far
You think 'What's the point? There's so much more to go'
But you've gotten so far and don't see as you feel so low.
No one spares you a second glance
Or if they do it's just by chance
No one recognises the pain in your eyes
Or sees through your little lies.
You say you're fine
Yet talk and wander like a mime
Hollow; controlled by another part of your self
A deluded part stuck on a rickety shelf.
You say your fine and well
But in your mind you forever dwell.
Your mind is your poisoner, infecting you,
But it is only visible to a select few.
You admit to anything just to stop the pain
But alas, it is all in vain;
The pain grows, blossoms like a hideous flower
And all the while you are locked in your tower.
You feel so empty and don't know what to do
Yet in your mind is an ugly stew
Of words of hate and pain and misery, overflowing the brim,
In your head is an unbearable din.
It screams and stabs at your soul
Until within you there is a massive jagged hole.
You are shredded and torn, exhausted to the bone,
Lost, hopeless and alone.
I wonder if you know I've felt all this too
I wonder if deep down you know I used to be like you.
Does it give you hope to see that you can escape your head;
The very thing that torments you and wants you dead?
Don't you see that your soul can heal
And there is more to what you feel?
The hurt and pain has chased the happiness away
But it is waiting for another day,
The day you find it and release it from its cage
Where it is hiding amongst the rage.
Don't you see this isn't the end?
Don't you see I will always be here for you my friend?
Don't you see we can get through this together
And that I'm not afraid of the stormy weather?
I want to help you become free.
I want to help you like you helped me.

Love that last line. This is
Love that last line. This is a deeply emotional piece and I feel that it was written with a specific person in mind. Here and there the rhyming lacks maturity but the overall sentiments make this a lovely poem. Much enjoyed.
