A Lovelike Ocean

You were the calm before the storm
The day we met the sea was still
Beautiful and alluring
Something pulled us both into the water
Aching and yearning
We learned about each other

Suddenly ripples appeared on the water
A disturbance in both of us
Something we could not ignore
The tide and the waves rose and swell
Faster and faster
Swirling and foaming
Faster
And
Faster
We knew what was happening
What we were becoming
We fell into each other

As time passed we created storms together
Violent waves and crashing seas
Swirling faster and faster until we created tsunamis
An unrelenting love

Over time the storms have quieted
But our love is unchanged
The calm seas are our home
Where we find peace
And lay our heads

As much as I love the daily calm
I can't help but yearn for those storms to return
And when they do
We drown in each other
