gets in the way
I cover it with pretty cloth,
sit on it, but
otherwise
it has no use
I can see.

long to know
what's in mine?

Once, someone tried
to force the lock.
I bit him hard
so he stopped, but I worry
he might
have blocked my key
from moving.

Recently, I thought
someone had come,
a locksmith with
sensitive touch
who knew so much,
but he gave up.

Now this chest is battered, worn
every day.
I can't imagine anyone
