Are You Interested in Time?
No one really wants to know just how much time they have left on this mortal coil. The unavoidable appointment with the Grim Reaper is one we, well I want to bury deep in that murky subconscious where only unfertilized, embryonic nodes of vague images lurk.
It took me quite a while to even get close to some semblance of comprehending Einstein’s theory of spacetime and even now my mind wants to reject it; just as two south pole magnets push away from each other his theory keeps being rejected by my simple brain. Yet proof exists. Two clocks calibrated to within nanoseconds of each other and then separated; one in space and the other here on terra firma both tell different times.
Interesting times? Surely that is the ultimate cliché. Let’s pull the words apart for a moment and reassemble them, or at least examine the root words within. Time? Well I won’t even start (ok, I already have…) on that. ‘In’ to be part of, the opposite of ‘out’, not being a dictionary buff I’ll leave it there. ‘rest’ is something that we crave particularly after mental or physical exertion. ‘sting’ wasps do it and it hurts, or a covert operation designed to effect capture or effect a result. ‘Inter’ to coexist be between.
I had no idea where this piece would lead me and that has become the theme. I am interested in time; just as a dip in a tombola or a random selection by number I am interested in time. I cannot control it, I cannot extend it, I can only experience it. My only crime would be if I waste it.
Interesting times…Yes, since Event One and on into infinity.
