Bright Spark
I'm half her age, but half as fit
The game old bird of Copley.
No one could have named her better
Spark by name and spark by nature.
Carnival time would see her
Prancing like a child
And looking on in wonder,
I wished I had her spark.
This octogenarian whirlwind takes my breath away.
And whilst we're on the subject,
Just when does she stop to breathe?
Whenever characters leave the scene
We always say the same.
"There will never be another?"
But with Gladys it will ring so true.
She is the spark of life
That lights our village flame.
