Twenty years I've known him
A solitary, simple man
Pleasure is for him
A pint or six
An equine flutter
A classic cowboy flick
A wit that's as dry as desert sand
A chuckle or a gruffle
Seems to sum up this softly spoken man
But do I really understand
I'm vain, loud and shallow
I love to boast and brag
Others make excuses and go
You, draw them to you
Fascinated, others hang
On your chosen words,
Hungrily consuming
Your understated wisdoms
Tweny years I've never known him
A deep and thoughtful man
What goes on behind the mask
Few will ever know
But I'd have an army
Of men like you
Real friends
I can truly trust in
Thank you Dave
