Reunion With Self
I often wander off at obscure tangents when writing, which wasn’t helpful during my exam days! The temptation to be obscure and abstract is always compelling and sometimes beneficial or not as the case may be.
So I decided to write about a reunion with myself; thus stretching the IP to the breaking point! Reflection is part of my emotional makeup and an essential tool taught to me during my teacher training years. Not that I have always followed the reflect-improve-repeat cycle. If I am honest there are two types of reunion with self. Firstly, I reflect and adapt; essentially not repeating a mistake. Secondly, despite a lesson moral or otherwise I repeat the ‘error’. Why I do not know, but I do.
I often reflect (sometimes literally when I talk to the man in the glass) on past events or simply emotions. I love to reunite with the adventures of my youth and young adult life. A story so diverse I could not have written it or even imagined it. So reuniting with the past is a powerful gift I can choose to enjoy or not as the case may be. Even the sad times or times when I have said or done something wrong that cannot be undone. When I meet the me who is negative or selfish I still have a choice; to condemn or to learn and act upon the lesson.
Sometimes I meet old friends who I have not seen or heard of for many years, but the bond that made the links between us remain unbroken. Other times I realise why we have not met again…it was time to move on. So when I meet me around the next hidden corner I will enjoy the moment with equanimity and poise.

An interesting piece of self
An interesting piece of self reflection. Not always easy, especially when it's sometimes easier not to.

Talking to yourself
And there are no awkward silences or irritating contradictions when you're talking to yourself.
I enjoyed you reflections.
