"Well, Victoria I'm glad you're back." Ria scanned her dad's guitar store as Hank went to the back of the store.
"Sure." Her dad stood there behind the guitar case as he opened it and stuck, what looked like cherry wood, guitar on the wall.
"You may think otherwise, but I do."
"You may think otherwise, but I don't care." She said sourly. As she saw his face go blank.
"Well, I guess if that's the way you feel." He said with no emotion as he walked to the front of the store to help with a customer who just walked in.
"Why don't you just cut him some slack." Hank sighed as he fixed one of the couch cushions that was on the shallow second story of her dad's shop.
"Why don't you butt out." He raised his hands up and went into the back again.
Angry at herself for being rude to the only person wo was nice to her, she stomped out of the store and went to the stripmall next door.
There was a Piggly Wiggly, a store called "Donna's Shoe Rack" and a "We Hire You."
"Hey, Victoria, please just let me know where you're going. I really would appreciate it if you stayed in my store."
"I'm just looking around. And I would appreciate it if you just let me go."
He breathed hard, and let her go. She walked into the shoe store feeling accomplished.
"Jerry, it's alright she will come around."
"Yeah, well I'm thinking this was a mistake letting them come here."
No one said anything and all was quiet til she came back in the store and sat on the couch with her arms crossed.
"Wow, that was wierd." Hank whispered to Jerry.
"Uhm, ya?" Her dad replied.
"Well make the best of it."
"Way ahead of you ma boy." He patted Hank on the shoulder and walked towards some customers that just entered the shop.
It seemed like hours since Ria had rejoined them in his shop, Hank was quiet, He was quiet, and Ria was silent.
"Victoria you want something to eat?" Her Dad asked as he walked back up the steps.
"NO." Is all she spat out now looking at the windows.
"Okay, well fridge is in the back."
When she didn't reply he turned the tv on and handed her the remote.
"How about a thank you? It's called manners." Hank told her as he went back up the steps and onto the big platform where she guessed people played guitars every now and again.
"It's alright Hank." Jerry interjected putting his hand out in Hank's direction.
"No, it's not alright Jerry. Why do you let her treat you that way? Your a great man, dammit. He's a great man, Ria, all he does is try to make you want to actually stay here. But only a person with a heart would see that." He said calmly but with an angry tone leaving them in the lobby area of the shop.
"Well, I've got to say i've never seen him speak that way." Her Dad made an arched eyebrow, and walked to the front of the store where an anxious little boy waited with an old guitar.
"Hello, welcome to Gee-Tar how may I help you my good man?"
Ria wasn't looking at anyone. She was looking at the ground, wide eyed gazing at the wood floor, contemplating if she should say sorry. Or if she should go in the bathroom to cry. She felt a little embarrassed, her dad's employees were there and they were all staring right at her. Everyone was looking at Ria for one purpose, because she was- in their eyes- a bitchy teenager. A bubble was forming in her throat and her face felt hot. Her green eyes were still huge. So she took her own advice and got up to go to the bathroom.
