The Dam

It has improved life,
On both sides of the divide
Weathering many years,
Of what the world has thrown at it
Although not as strong as it once was,
Lifes constant assault has provided character
So now even the harshest critics,
Might be charmed by its good days
There may now be cracks,
But it still stands
Even if it were to fail in its purpose,
There are those who would not leave
Either possessing too much faith,
Or too much stubbornness
But it will not fall,
Not on this day
Let us hope it ever remains standing,
For those that live in its shadow
After all,
It is the only thing holding back my bitterness
