Forever A Waylander

There is no longer the chance
Yet there was a time that I did dream
I would lay awake and think
Of all the clever things I would say
When we had our fateful meeting
Eventually we would be friends
Despite our many differences
What barriers are age and culture
Compared to the imagination
Especially one belonging to a lonely child
I thought of him as a hero
Containing a piece of each of his
The ones I read about
Until my books became tattered
I thought of him as a savior
Rescuing me from my sorry reality
And taking me to these wonderful places
Where I walked among mighty giants
Of deeds and virtues
Unfortunately I will never get the chance
To tell him thank you
Face to face
For making my world better
By writing about his
But I would like to say this now
Thank you David A Gemmell
Words I have not but these
I will continue to think of you
