Forgotten Replica (An extract)

Since her accident, Aubrey had been forgetting. Some days were worse than others, sometimes she’d wake up and not know who any of us were, others she remembered snippets, names, dates, faces, that kind of thing. I would never know what the next morning would bring but I’d take it as it came. What else could I do?
Whenever I looked in the mirror I saw what she saw. The same 15 year old girl, with the same ocean blue eyes and camel like eyelashes. A tanned heart shaped face, framed by chest length white blonde, curly hair. Me, her. We were the same, but some days she didn’t even know who I was. Who we were.
She’d see me, look in the mirror and a scream would echo through the house, waking up our brother, Caleb, and our parents. I was always awake before she was, to calm her down in case it was a bad day, explain, console or laugh. Her mood changed daily too, it all depended on what she remembered.
