“I think I’d better go and get my scooter and follow him for a bit,” said Jennifer Jane, “I expect you’d like to come with me to make sure he doesn’t come to any harm.”
Mary waited for several minutes, while her daughter got her scooter and flew slowly over the drawbridge. She made herself comfortable on the pillion, then Jennifer Jane took off and flew round the castle following the same direction that her dad had taken. He was nowhere to be seen.
“He can’t have got very far, I can fly at least ten times quicker than he can, but it's always a bit difficult to spot people from the air.
She zoomed off searching for any sign of a rather large bird, but with no luck. There was a very cold wind blowing and a nasty looking rain cloud coming from beyond the Witches’ Home and heading towards Lurbridge.
“If he’s seen that, I expect he’ll have turned round and gone back to the Witches Home,” Jennifer Jane shouted, “I think we may as well go back there too, then if he’s not back soon we can get some warm clothes before we go off again for another look.”
Mary agreed with chattering teeth, as the scooter returned at high speed. Dad still hadn’t returned when they arrived and by now Abigail had become a bit worried about him.
“I’ll get some of the witches to come out and search with you. I don’t want to worry you Mary, but there can be some nasty surprises in this world if anything does go wrong, so I think the sooner we find him the better.”
The search party took off and had soon flown over far more ground than either Abigail or Jennifer Jane thought that Dave could cover in the time he’d been out. By now it was blowing hard and raining so they returned to the Witches’ Home until conditions got better.
“If he’s got any sense he’s found some shelter somewhere out of this weather, we only have to wait for the storm to pass over and he’ll be back, I’m sure.”
The witches continued searching the area in between the showers until it became dark, but there was still no sign of him.
“Oh well, if Jennifer Jane can survive an adventure in this world,” said Mary, “then I reckon Dave can, we’ll just have to wait until tomorrow!”
