Everyone knows fairies can't fly 8/9

Before Lieutenant Moonshine could think of shouting at all of them to return to work, the air was full of fairies trying to remember the way they used to fly when they were young children.
Then one of the mums had the bright idea of going to the crèche and taking her child along with her for a flight. Half an hour after Fern had landed there wasn’t a fairy in sight, except for herself and Moonshine.
“Crumbs I am sorry, I hope you weren’t too busy before I arrived, I thought everyone would be a bit more disciplined about leaving their work!”
Lieutenant Moonshine was hovering happily about ten feet off the ground. “I couldn’t care less at the moment,” she said, “I’d nearly forgotten what it felt like. I’m surprised that the witches hadn’t told us about this spell a long time ago, it would have kept everyone a lot happier I’m sure and solved the baby problem at the same time!”
“Well Jennifer Jane’s dad showed me. He flies around Lurbridge on some rather crude wings strapped to his back and he flaps them using his arms. But I think if you have a quick look inside the offices, you’ll see the reason why no one’s ever shown you before.”
Moonshine came down to earth quite literally and went inside the building.
“I never thought they’d all run off like that,” she said as she came out again looking rather worried. “There’s nobody in there at all, there are bells ringing all over the place because people have made wishes and the transport department has been closed down completely. Whatever am I going to do?”
“When in doubt send for Jennifer Jane,” said Fern. “She has a very good reputation for sorting things out, after all she sorted out the problems I had when I was working here, as you already know. In any case it was her dad who taught me the spell, so sending for her would keep it in the family at least. Come on let’s go inside and I’ll try and give you a hand sorting out some of the backlog of wishes.”
In fact the attempt to fill some of the requests for wishes, didn’t work out very well. Fern had forgotten a lot of the procedures, while Moonshine was more used to giving orders than she was at making things work. Neither did the attempt to send for Jennifer Jane have any result.
Moonshine walked out onto the Warehouse forecourt in despair, to see if she could spot any of her staff. Just at that moment two of the fairies came into sight. They had their arms around each other and were hobbling along as best they could. One of them had blood trickling down her face, while the other had a huge bruise on her right arm and leg.
“We crashed into each other,” said one of them apologetically, “and then we both landed in a tree!”
“Well for goodness sake take it more slowly in future,” said Fern, “don’t forget I’ve had a lot of practice getting my muscles into shape gliding down from the top of tall masts!”
“Come inside,” said Moonshine “and let’s try and get you two patched up!”
