The Imposter 2/9

Jennifer Jane unrolled her gift wondering what on earth it could be. Once opened, the scroll was most impressive.
Across the top in large curly red letters, was written ‘The Grand Order of Wizardry’ with the capitals picked out in gold. Then in very fancy writing underneath; ‘Be it known that the bearer, Jennifer Jane, whose likeness is portrayed beneath, is an apprentice member of the Grand Order of Wizardry, studying at the Lurbridge Gate Witches’ Home.
Upon production of this document, all persons are requested to extend to the holder, the full co-operation and assistance that would normally be expected when dealing with a fully qualified witch.’
Quite a good painting of Jennifer Jane followed and then there was an impressive red wax seal at the bottom and some unreadable signatures.
“Gosh!” exclaimed Jennifer Jane, “Abigail said she’d give me a way to identify myself when people refuse to believe who I am, but I never expected anything as grand as this!”
“It does look very impressive doesn’t it,” said the teacher, having a quick look over Jennifer Jane’s shoulder, “now you’d better run along, I’ve got another class to take!”
Jennifer Jane couldn’t wait to get home and show her parents her ‘identity card’.
“More of an identity scroll really,” said dad, “but if that doesn’t convince people that you’re not really nine feet tall, then I don’t know what will.”
“I’ll take it back to the Witches’ Home and keep it inside the luggage compartment on my scooter, then it’ll be handy if I need it. I think tomorrow I’ll fly off somewhere that I’ve never been before, then when I’m asked who I am, I can show them this and prove that I’m really me.”
