"Well, I'll be blowed," said the Giant, "heard of white dragons, of course but blessed if I ever thought I'd see one. Come from furrin parts, they do."
"Yes," said Jennifer Jane," that one comes from China."
"China! Well, that's furrin enough, if you like."
"I must be going, Mr Giant," called Jennifer Jane, "or I'll be late for my tea" and she hurried off home.
"Oh good, you're just in time," said Mary, as Jennifer Jane went indoors, "we've got a surprise for you."
Dad's friend Jack from the museum was waiting in the sitting room. As soon as he saw Jennifer Jane, he jumped up.
"Have you taken the crown back to your friend yet?" he asked.
"Yes, and Dad's thank you note and some pictures. He was very pleased with the pictures and I've said that I'll colour in the copy of the drawing and get it framed for him."
"Bother," said Jack, "I was hoping it hadn't gone. Your Dad showed me the photographs of the play and I’m pretty sure that the crown you borrowed was part of the crown jewels before they were lost in the Wash. Do you think you could borrow it again so that we could check it?"
"I don't think so," said Jennifer Jane, "I nearly got into awful trouble, borrowing it last time."
"Oh," said Jack in a disappointed tone, "we've got drawings at the museum and your photos do look awfully like them. It would be nice if we could actually check it."
"I'm sure the owner won't part with it again," said Jennifer Jane, "you see, it's part of a private collection."
"Well, whether we ever see it again or not," said Dave, "one thing's for sure. I insist that we give all of Jennifer Jane's friends a big party as a thank you for all the favours they've done us."
Jennifer Jane didn't know what to do. "There's an awful lot of them," she said.
"Doesn't matter," said Dad, "we've got a big garden."
"They're nearly all very shy."
"All right, let's have a barbecue in the evening. That should make everyone feel at home."
Jennifer Jane gave up. "I'll ask them and see what they say," she said and she did but that's the next story.
