Leaves
Leaves are lovely in the summer
But in autumn they must fall
There’s a reason for their dropping
That involves them all
Most of them lay and rot away
Nourishing the ground
But some just lay there withered
For a purpose that I’ve found
They lay untouched through rain and snow
Like small duvets on the earth
Then when spring has come where each has been
Green shoots proclaim their worth
For though each leaf was beautiful
Fading to shades of gold and red
Under their protection
Snowdrops raised their snowy heads
So now that spring is with us
If you’ve nothing else to do
Just thank the withered leaves
That have helped it all come true
----OOOO----

Hi Geoff,
How lovely this poem is, so beautiful to read the cycle of
life of the leaves and nature.
Jenny.
