A quiet day with Jennifer Jane 4/7

“There’s nice to see you all, come along Angharad don’t be shy, come out of there and meet some more of my friends.”
Megan stepped back and gave the baby a little push towards the group of humans. Angharad looked at them all carefully, made up her mind that there was one little one who probably wouldn’t hurt her too much and bounded towards Jennifer Jane rather like a spring lamb.
This particular spring lamb however, was the size of a very large dog. She’d seemed small enough when she had been hiding behind Megan, but suddenly Jennifer Jane, who’d been holding out her arms and making encouraging noises, wasn’t too sure that she’d been doing the right thing. As it turned out she was quite right!
Angharad bounded up and put her feet on Jennifer Jane’s shoulders to be petted. To her great surprise the ‘little one’ fell over. This was going to be a great new game, so she sat down and began licking Jennifer Jane’s face to show that she was being friendly and didn’t mean any harm.
Jennifer Jane wasn’t at all amused. The tiny little baby had suddenly become a huge heavy animal that had not only knocked her over, but was now sitting on her chest licking her face. Being licked wasn’t all that pleasant, but even worse was the fact that she couldn’t breathe properly.
“Oof, gerroff,” she panted.
Of course the baby couldn’t understand what she was saying and to make matters worse, all the adults and Megan were laughing at her. There was only one way she could think of to get Angharad off her chest, so that she could breathe properly again. She patted the young dragon and twiddled her thumb as fast as she could. ‘Phew, that’s better!’ she thought and gave the baby a small push so that she could stand up.
Angharad floated gently through the air flapping her stumpy little wings to try and regain her balance. As far as she was concerned she’d obviously made the right choice of person to play with. Flying was fun and she flapped vigorously, vainly trying to control her speed and direction.
Megan began looking worried in case her baby bumped into something hard and hurt herself, but of course there was nothing Jennifer Jane could do about it now that she was up in the air. Fortunately Abigail stopped laughing for long enough to realise that Megan was beginning to get upset. She twiddled her fingers and Angharad sank gently to the ground.
The little brown dragon was a bit disappointed that all the fun was over, so she bounced off once more towards the ‘little one’, to try and get her to do it all over again.
Megan rumbled rather loudly at the baby, who stopped in mid bounce and started to cry.
“I’m ever so sorry Megan, but I had to do something, she was squashing me and I couldn’t breathe properly!”
“No harm done,” replied Megan, “but I think she’s had enough excitement for one day, I’ll be taking her back inside for her afternoon nap now.”
