The snowflake's dream

The snowflake’s dream
I’m a lonely little snowflake
‘Cos I’m miserable in the cold
Which is not what snowflakes should be
At least so I am told
I want to be a sunflower
And stay warm all day long
But for now I’m still a snowflake
And cold when day is done
Sunflowers stand up tall and straight
Gold heads basking in the sun
If I tried that as a snowflake
I’d melt in front of everyone
My ambition seems impossible
But I have a cunning plan
I’ll watch the fall of sunflower seeds
And see where I must land
I’ll soak into a little seed
Soon it will come to pass
That together we will blossom
I’ll be a real sunflower at last
So when all of this has happened
I’ll stand here proud and tall
‘Cos I’ll be big and beautiful
And nice and warm and all
All my little sunflower seeds
Will ripen in the sun
So I’ll live on forever
Once harvest time has come
People will come to look at me
I’ll be famous it would seem
It isn’t every snowflake
That gets to live its dream
