The statue 1/15

Jennifer Jane was feeling bored. As was so often the case when she felt like this, she was sitting in her tree house wondering what she could do for the day. The trouble was that the more she thought the more things she seemed to have already done. Now for the life of her she couldn’t think of anything new to occupy her mind.
At that point there was a scrabbling noise on the tree trunk and Moggy came leaping up to join her.
“You look as if you’re worried about something,” he said.
“I just can’t think of anything to do today!”
“Well now, I assume you’ve just had something to eat, it’s a nice sunny day and if you don’t feel like chasing your tail, why don’t you just curl up in the sunshine and go to sleep like I do!”
“It’s alright for you to say that, but we humans want to try and get a bit more out of life.”
“What else is there?” Moggy curled up in the largest patch of sun and taking his own advice was soon fast asleep.
Jennifer Jane sighed, if only life was as simple for humans. She went through all the things she’d been able to do once again. She’d more or less sorted out all the problems she knew about in the alternate world. The dragons had stopped eating people; trolls were quietly asking riddles and only chasing the people who couldn’t give them the correct answer.
George had a new business that seemed to be working very well for him. One thing she certainly wasn’t going to try and do anything about were the goblins in Happy Valley.
In her own world the goblins and Wilfred were all living happily together, while at last Eve her next door neighbour, had stopped asking questions about her magic act at the school. Her mother had found a way of solving the staffing problems at the Wish Warehouse, while dad was perfectly happy learning to fly with his new wings.
There just wasn’t anything she could think of that was left to achieve. If she could go into the future and see the outcome of all her ideas, it would be interesting to see what it might be that she couldn’t think of now.
Of course! That was the idea she’d been trying to think of all along, she could go into the future. All she had to do was go to the Witches’ Home and walk round it in the opposite direction to the way that had once taken her into the past.
She got up carefully so as not to disturb her cat and crept down the tree as quietly as she could.
“Have a nice time chasing your tail,” called Moggy with as much of a giggle as a cat was able to produce.
So much for trying to be considerate! Still she felt a lot happier now that she had something definite in mind, as she set off for the alternate world.
