The trouble with elves 6/10

Wilfred still didn’t notice her as she flew past him for the second time, on her way back to the fog. She came out in sight of the timber yard and headed off in as straight a line as she could manage, towards the Witches’ Home. At least she didn’t have to worry about Lurgin any more, now that she was flying.
The sun was still shining brightly as she got nearer the Home and although she didn’t feel as if her broom was going very quickly, she could see her shadow racing across the ground beneath her.
To her surprise the drawbridge was being raised as she approached and a witch was waving from under the archway for her to hurry up. She began a shallow glide towards the Home, when suddenly she noticed a shadow beside hers rapidly getting larger. She looked round and recognised Tornak diving towards her.
She was just going to wave to him and tell him about Megan’s egg, when she remembered that if Lurgin was still alive, then Tornak was probably still eating peasants and she could very well be next on the menu.
She accelerated through the gap between archway and drawbridge, thankfully hearing the heavy wooden panel close behind her with a thud.
“You left that a bit late didn’t you!” said the witch on duty, “you youngsters should know better than go out flying when Tornak the Terrible is hunting. Wait a minute though; you’re not one of ours are you? Where have you sprung from young lady, come to that where did you get that strange looking broom?”
“It’s rather a long story,” said Jennifer Jane, “I think perhaps I’d better see one of the senior witches and ask her for some advice.”
