A week with Peter 4/17

Jennifer Jane flew Peter over to the timber yard so that he could look at the sawmill. He seemed quite interested and made a few notes but as it was a Sunday they couldn’t go inside to see the machinery working.
She hovered high over the village and pointed out the magic fog at the entrance to Timber Creek. She was high enough to see the giant’s castle on the horizon and told him the story of Tornak the Terrible and his conversion to eating coal.
“We haven’t got time to go over there today but we’ll try and find time later in the week.”
Peter assured her that he’d very much like to talk to a dragon who used to eat people. He’d never seen a giant’s castle before either and wanted to visit that as well, to see if the giant who lived there was as big as the one he’d already met at the pool near Jennifer Jane’s house.
As it was getting late, Jennifer Jane returned to the Witches’ Home and they went home using the cloud transport. Peter excitedly told the story of the day’s events while the family was eating supper. Neither of the children had remembered Esmerelda’s warning.
“Quite a quiet day by your usual standards,” laughed Dad, “what do you intend to do tomorrow?”
“I thought we could go over to the goblin boatyard to meet Fern and see how the new brig is coming along.”
“You’d better take the lugger then,” said Dad, “you should be all right on your own if it’s not too windy. You certainly can’t both go in your canoe!”
“We could go with Barnacle Bill on his paddle steamer if he’s at the giant’s pool but either way we’ll be able to go there if it’s a nice day.”
Peter was beginning to look confused again. He wasn’t even sure what a lugger was. He’d only heard of steam power and paddle steamers by reading about history at home on his computer, but he was quite sure that either method of travel would prove to be interesting.
