Jennifer Jane looked at Lieutenant Moonshine rather worriedly.
“Don’t worry,” whispered Moonshine, “I think Abigail has something up her sleeve to stop him remembering too much when he gets home.”
A fairy came into the room and spoke to Lieutenant Moonshine.
“Your transport to see Clarence is ready. If you’ve seen enough in here we’ll get you on your way.”
Peter was relieved to see that a cloud had been arranged to fetch them. He hadn’t enjoyed the puff of wind method of travelling at all.
He was almost prepared for the surprise of seeing a dragon, but even so, the size of Clarence came as rather a shock. He rather bravely took the initiative and walked up to him.
“You must be Clarence, my name’s Peter. Pleased to meet you.”
“Hello old chap, jolly nice to see a young feller with my old friend, er, Jillian er...”
A slightly smaller red dragon came out of the cave and hit Clarence over the head with her wing.
“There’s forgetful you are. It’s Jennifer Jane you great silly, how are you my dear? I hear your friend is from another world and is staying with you for a while.”
Jennifer Jane had a chat with Megan, while Clarence showed Peter his treasure and demonstrated his fire breathing technique. In the end Jennifer Jane had to go and interrupt them as it was getting late. She shouted up to Frosty who was waiting high up in the colder air and they were soon well on their way home.
“That was absolutely fascinating,” said Peter, “he’s too big and heavy to fly, animals can’t talk and his treasure must be worth millions just for the precious metals and gems, let alone its historical value. This world is absolutely incredible.”
“You wait until tomorrow, if all goes well we’ll meet a dragon and a giant who used to eat peasants until quite recently. You can have a look round the castle and meet a dwarf named Fundin who has engineering workshops and lives underneath.
“I can’t wait; there’s a new surprise every day.”
