The witch on duty in the guard house at the Witches’ Home reached for the warning bell, as Jennifer Jane arrived in the special space always kept clear for use with her safety spell.
“It’s quite alright, I used the instant travel spell because I’ve had to come a long way in a hurry. However I would like to see Abigail in the workshop if you can get a message to her please.”
The witch was so surprised, that she did as the apprentice asked without any argument. Abigail arrived at the workshop in a hurry, just as Jennifer Jane was putting a small sack full of teeth into a plastic shopping bag.
“What on earth is going on this time?”
Jennifer Jane explained the situation. “If the teeth are suitable for making into a solution, then all our problems could be solved!”
Abigail thought things over for a moment, then smiled and had just opened her mouth to agree, when she was interrupted by a howl from Polly.
“It’s not fair, nobody wants to buy any of the designs I’ve made and if there aren’t going to be any more teeth to use, then I’ll have to go back to the Wish Warehouse and I’ll never be able to marry Robert!”
Robert didn’t get quite as upset as Polly, but he hurried across the workshop wiping his oily hands on a piece of rag, before putting his arm round her shoulders in an attempt to comfort her. Jennifer Jane and Abigail looked at each other, while Polly sobbed bitterly on Robert’s shoulder.
“I think the best thing to be done, is for you to go back with the teeth and see if they’re suitable for use,” said Abigail. “If they are, then we’ll have to try and find something else for Polly to do, if they’re not, then nothing’s changed and we can carry on trying to improve the product at this end.”
